Claudia, a young and acclaimed concert performer, returns to Lignano for the funeral of her father, whose past has always remained a bit of a mystery to her. Back in her father’s home after the ceremony, she discovers amongst some clippings clues which link her father to Ernest Hemingway, who made a stop in Lignano in the distant 1954. Now gripped by an incurable curiosity Claudia starts looking for objects and people with the help of an innkeeper, who puts her in touch with an old an apparently disreputable friend of her father’s, Samuel. In the background runs the story of Lignano and its metaphors, from the black and white dawns of the 50s to today’s modernity. “Through the metaphor of the pen, the short aims to give a taste of the fragility of memory and the idea that the history of a place is passed on mostly through the stories of individuals”. RENZO CARBONERA directs internationally distributed documentaries and collaborates with various networks, including Mediaset, Rai and Fox international. His new project, "Il naufragio del Baron Gautsch", is produced by Raitre and is being adapted with the ZDF (Germany) and PBS (United States) channels.
