Thanks to long years of patient hard work, moving in the
shadowlands of the history of football and of the 20th
Century, hovering between the rigorous style of a
documentary and the spirit of cinema, the film narrates the
events which took place during the 1942 World Cup, which
was never recognised by the official sport bodies and which
for years remained wrapped in legend without anyone knowing
who the winner was. “We have recontructed the mosaic of a
choral story which lightly combines the frontier world of
1940s Patagonia, the tension of a sport story, a mixture of
characters moved by big passions and disproportionate
dreams. An anarchical and naive epic which assumes comical
tones, playing on the chemical reaction between the rigour
of documentary forms with which the events are presented
and the somewhat surreal nature of events where memory
fades into legend.” (Lorenzo Garzella e Filippo Macelloni)
LORENZO GARZELLA (Pisa, 1972) has directed
documentaries and short films and created video
intallations, gaining recognistion in Italy and abroad.

documentaries with a historical and social theme, he has
directed several works on the history of football, among
which LA MIA SQUADRA - MARCELLO LIPPI RACCONTA I MONDIALI
2006 (Raiuno), and GERMANY 2006, a film montage of the
German World Cup.
FILIPPO MACELLONI (Florence, 1965)

Home Video clips, promotional, institutional and social
videos for the main Italian TV channels and editorial
houses. He has worked in film, as an assistant director for
