SHLOMI ELKABETZ



(1972 Be’er Sheva, Israel) spent seven years in New York acting in fringe theatre, writing and filming some short films. In 2003, he began work on a cinematic trilogy together with his sister (actress Ronit Elkabetz), about the individual, society and the state. The first instalment - VE’LAKAHTA LE’HA ISHA (TO TAKE A WIFE) was screened at the Venice Film Festival. The second, SHIVA (7 DAYS) was screened in Cannes and won the award for Best Film at the Festival of Jerusalem. The third and final part - “The State” - is currently in production. Also active as a television director, Elkabetz teaches film studies at the Sapir Film School.
