JOHN SHANK
(1977, United States) moved to Brussels, where he studied at the Institut des Arts de Diffusion (IAD). Over the past ten years he has worked in theatre and film, as an assistant, writer, and director. Before making his debut with LAST WINTER, he directed three shorts which were well received at international film festivals. FAREWELL TO THE CRYING CALF was screened at the official selection of both Cannes and the Locarno Film Festival. The short won an award at the Ludwigsburg Film Festival in Stuttgart. WHEN DAY CAME, selected among others for the Festivals of Cork, Gijon e Uppsala, won an award for best European short at the Vendôme Film Festival.
