VENICE DAYS: EIGHTH EDITION SCORES
10/09/2011
The Venice Days have “passed” the exams of the 68th edition. Successful open air screenings which drew over 1000 spectators and animated the beach of the Des Bains hotel until late with live music and original events. In the Official Programme the prize for most awarded film of the Venice Days 2011 goes to Io sono Li by Andrea Segre, which received much recognition on the fringes of the Film Festival, including the prize from the Cinecircoli Giovanili Socioculturali and the Lina Mangiacapre prize. Also worth noting is the great success of Daniele Gaglianone’s Ruggine, well received by the public, with over 500 people not being able to get into the Sala Darsena for the official screening.

The Venice Days’ exclusive prize, the Label Europa Cinemas, goes to Présumé coupable – Guilty by Vincent Garenq (France), a film that has already received acquisition proposals for nearly 20 countries.

The exceptional public participation (nearly 15.000 attended the screenings), the success of the workshops (in particular the meeting promoted together with SIAE and Anica with Nova/Il Sole 24 Ore on the subject of authors’ rights and new digital platforms, which continues tor raise debates and exchange of ideas among the speakers), the quality of the work developed by the participants of “27 Times Cinema” of the LUX Prize (two of the shorts produced by the young people within the scope of the workshop on documentary cinema held by Andrea Segre are of an excellent level and will soon be on the Cineuropa and Venice Days websites) mark a very positive outcome for the Venice Days in a year of great changes.

The Days will carry on in the next few days, with repeats in Rome, with the event “From Venice to Rome” at the Farnese Persol Cinema from September 12-18 and in Milan with “The courses of cinema: Venice’s films” in the Anteo and Apollo cinemas from September 15-21.
