HOW TO NARRATE REALITY

The idea for the discussion comes from Filippo Vendemmiati’s documentary È stato morto un ragazzo – which will screen that same evening at 10 pm in the outdoor cinema of the Filmmakers Villa – on the fight led by the mother of Federico Aldrovandi against the police officers who were recently found guilty for the murder of her son. We want to examine how reality is depicted through diverse cinematic and television formats – those journalistic investigations and creative and cinematic documentaries that, in recent years and with a great tradition behind them, have been inspired by national headlines – in an attempt to understand the media’s impact on the various ways of telling a story.
