synopsis Little Voices is an animated documentary based on interviews and drawings of a new generation of displaced children (8-13 years old) who have grown up in the middle of violence and chaos in Colombia. The interviews show how they perceive their reality. The stories have been illustrated and animated based on the original drawings of the children. "We have to hear children who have become guerrilla fighters or paramilitary fighters to understand that they choose this path because society doesn’t offer any other options." (Jairo Eduardo Carrillo) Eduardo Carrillo’s animated feature documentary Pequeñas Voces, based on his awardwinning short of the same name, tells the true stories of four Colombian children who
have seen their lives disrupted by the violence of the long conflicts in Columbia. He uses
the voices, and paintings made by the displaced children themselves as the basis for the
film before animating them. Powerful and compelling, with beautiful moments of tenderness
and joy, Carrillo manages to enter deeply into the unfortunate world of these kids,
without contaminating their version. (Elena Manrique) |
