synopsis
Scena del Crimine is a frame narrative in seven scenes that begins and ends on the prison island of Nisida. In between, we see five views of the city that have been determined by the underworld. "With Scena del crimine I wanted to make a film about ordinary people living under extraordinary circumstances. People who didn’t cause or can’t solve the problem of organized crime in Italy. I didn’t want to finger point but to listen. (...) In the end, of course, the film is my interpretation of life under those circumstances. But I tried to do it carefully." (Walter Stokman)

The Dutch are watching us; observing certain "Vesuvians." The interiors/exteriors of a juvenile detention center, traffic overflow, suspended islands, robberies and video surveillance, good families and the police. Nights filled with the sounds of dialect and a powerful sense of ethnicity among play, work, bodies, corpses, voices. A co-ed military school and women's bingo. Underworld philosophy and old songs to get rid of crime. The director captures, flanks, reveals, places certain situations and truths side by side. He does not invade with theories, using instead fluid cuts to portray chapters of manifest/fleeting humanity. The Dutch are watching a volcanic Naples. Will it erupt? (Maurizio Di Rienzo)
