Gordos is a game where the spectator has to guess who’s hiding behind (or inside) each character. We all interpret roles in life. We create a character that helps us go through life and who, most of the time, acts against our own freedom. We’re used to acting all day. With this film, my objective was to hide a person behind each character. And the moviegoer’s task is to try to remove, sequence by sequence, the protective layers that prevent us from seeing the real person; to tear down the wall that protects the characters from external aggressions. The goal is to unmask the “pretender” who, in reality, is only deceiving himself. The right dose of deceit and the mandatory game essential for living (and maybe even enjoying life a bit).
