Nathan Miller (Boulogne-Billancourt, France, 1968) left school at the age of 19 to intern with assistant director Valérie Othin-Girard. He also worked as an AD from the age of 19 through 1994, when he made his first short, Au Fond, Tout au Fond. He went on to make other shorts, write screenplays and direct commercials. Since 1985 he has worked with his father Claude Miller, also as AD (Charlotte and Lulu, The Accompanist, The Smile, A Secret), and with him made his feature debut, Je Suis Heureux que Ma Mere Soit Vivante.
Our identity is a piece of cloth of which our childhood lined the contours. The presence of those who brought us up, our parents, created the basis of who we are. But what happens when there is an absence? It is one of the questions asked by the story.
