RELEASE - ARGENTINA, COLOMBIA, SWEDEN… AND ITALY ROUND OUT THE PROGRAM
08/08/2009
Thanks to a fruitful collaboration with the Venice Biennale, which kindly gave us (and the International Critics´ Week) the use of the new Sala Perla 2, and the exceptionally interesting submissions we received, we complete the program of the sixth Venice Days with a host of new films and events. There are three new titles in Official Selection: * Swedish director Jesper Ganslandt (in Venice Days 2006 with Falkenberg Farewell) returns with the world premiere of APAN, the disturbing thriller about a father and husband.
* In his new film FRANCIA (world premiere), Argentinean master filmmaker Israel Adrián Caetano (Red Bear and Buenos Aires, 1977) follows a family tragedy * Colombia´s Jorge Navas makes an impressive feature debut on an infernal Bogota by night in LA SANGRE Y LA LLUVIA.
(There are thus five first films in Venice Days, all of which will vie for the Lion of the Future - Luigi De Laurentiis Award).
* At the Filmmakers Villa, the Screen under the Stars program will every day feature new films, discussions and contemplations of contemporary cinema. Among them, the wonderful portrait of a great Italian poetess, Cosimo Damiano Damato´s ALDA MERINI (narrated by Mariangela Melato); the "ballade" IL CAVALIERE SOLE by Pasquale Scimeca; and the special program AN EVENING IN TEHRAN, shorts by Iranian film students.
