In 1990 he made his feature debut, The Peaceful Air of the West, establishing him as one of the most interesting young filmmakers in Italy. Since then, he has shot various documentaries – including La fabbrica sospesa, Made in Lombardia, Rom Tour, Un piede in terra l’altro in mare, Quattro giorni con Vivian – and six features: A Soul Split in Two, The Acrobat, Bread and Tulips (winner of nine David di Donatello awards and distributed worldwide), Burning in the Wind, Agatha and the Storm and Days and Clouds.
