100+1: BEYOND THE LIST THE DISCUSSION ABOUT THE LIST OF THE 100 MOVIES TO BE “SAVED” AND SHOWN IN SCHOOLS GOES ON IN VENICE
30/08/2008
The “Meetings” started yesterday at the Authors’ Villa with 100 + 1: BEYOND THE LIST, one hundred movies for one country: Italy, of course. The discussion – stemming from the need of giving way to concrete initiatives for the diffusion of one hundred classics of Italian cinema which were presented in an already well known list on February, 2008, at the Cinema’s House in Rome – saw the interventions of Fabio Ferzetti and Bruno Torri, Goffredo Fofi, Andrea Martini, Paolo Mereghetti and Morando Morandini; and, for CinemAvvenire: Sergio Di Lino, Simone Moraldi and Paolo Patarca.
“A list which doesn’t pretend to be exclusive or definitive –underlines Fabio Ferzetti – but should use cinema as a witness of an era and of historical events”, in order to convey “to young scholars the crucial social role that cinema had for their fathers and grandfathers. I regret” – insists Ferzetti – “that the critical debate (raised from the Syndicate of Cinematographic Critics and published in the last number of “Cinecritica”) was centred only on the titles contained in the list, instead of regarding it like a instrument which could give momentum to the project”.
