Alain Gomis

The starting point was Samir Guesmi, who allowed me to imagine the existence of a character such as Yacine, and although I still didn’t know what direction he I was conscious of his inner strength and of his outer discomfort.
A character in suspension, like his game (…). A man in too big a body, clumsy like an albatross, and yet able to find the shortcuts that bring him straight his goals. Someone that we think at ease somewhere else, in his element. We think there must inevitably be a place where he belongs, and such a place must be a wonderful one.

Alain Gomis was born in France from a Senegalese father and a French mother, he studied Cinematographic art history.
Among his short movies are Tourbillons in 1999, official selection at the festivals of Clermont-Ferrand, Villeurbanne, New York, Namur, Rennes and Petite Lumière in 2003, official selection at the Short Film Césars,
His first feature film,
L’Afrance in 2002, was awarded the Pardo d'argento in Locarno, the GNCR award at the Angers film festival, the Bayard d’Or at the Namur fil festival.
