PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN EUROPA CINEMAS AND VENICE DAYS RENEWED

Europa Cinemas, the most important network of film exhibitors in Europe and the Mediterranean area represents one of the most precious supports for the distribution and promotion of European cinema. For this purpose Europa Cinemas activities are focused on: increasing exhibition and circulation among the 30 different countries involved of European audiovisual works; promoting initiatives aimed at young audiences; promoting cultural diversity; supporting networks among exhibitors at a national and European levels.
Thanks to the renewal of the partnership, for the fourth consecutive year, films selected by Venice Days will be competing for the prestigious Label Europa Cinemas Award, which consists in the economic contributions to distribute and sustain films in cinemas for a considerable period in theatres involved in the network (almost 700, around 1.600 screens). Starting from last year, the winner of the Label receives also a prize from Technicolor consisting in a minimum of five copies of the film printed for free for the Italian distribution.
Venice Days - Giornate degli Autori in the small number of festival sections aimed at the discovery of new works and authors at the big European festivals chosen by Europa Cinemas for awarding its Label, namely: the Directors' Fortnight in Cannes, Panorama in Berlin and Karlovy Vary.
The winner of Venice Days Label 2006, Azul Oscuro Casi Negro - DarkBlueAlmostBlack by Daniel Sanchèz Arèvalo, was selected, after Venice, by several festivals winning lots of prizes, and it was screened successfully in many European countries.
