synopsis Cargo-200 is a military term used to describe the cargo of dead bodies being sent home after war.
Cargo-200 is Alexey Balabanov’s 11th film. This new film is about death of totalitarianism in one certain country. At the threshold of 1984, the eve of Perestroika when the darkness of life had thickened to its fullest… With this film Balabanov promises to explain all about himself, his country and its heroes, more frankly than in his previous films.
USSR. 1984. The end of the Soviet era. A provincial town. After going to a club the daughter of the secretary of the district committee for the Communist Party disappears. There are no witnesses. No suspects have been found. This same evening, in a house on the outskirts of town, a brutal murder is committed. The culprit is the owner of the house. Both investigations are turned over to the police Capitan Zhurov… |
