CLOSING PRESS RELEASE

Long queues at the screenings; increasing attention paid by the national and the international press; daily programs broadcasted by the main tv and radio networks; great interest shown by the industry; a general grande interesse da parte degli operatori di mercato; a warm and enthousiastic atmosphere.
This, in short, the positive outcome of the third edition of Giornate degli Autori - Venice Days, once again supported by ANAC and by the authors of API, directed for the first time by Fabio Ferzetti.
A success that is extended to the next weeks since 10 out of 13 films are screened at the traditional reprisal of Venice Days in Milan and Rome, while the Toronto film festival has selected 6 films of our independent sidebar of the Venice Film Festival.

The following numbers are the proof of the most significant results obtained by this third edition:
- around 15.000 spectators have seen films of "Giornate degli Autori - Venice Days"; - the films that have been the greatest sales successes are by now: La Noche de los Girasoles (Angosto) by Jorge Sànchez-Cabezudo (bought for Italy by Istituto Luce), Azul Oscuro Casi Negro by Daniel Sànchez-Arévalo, 7 Ans by Jean-Pascal Hattu e L’etoile du Soldat by Christophe de Ponfilly;
- 3.600 guests have spent some time at the Villa of the Authors, and cocktails, opening and closing parties, encounters, etc. have contributed to transform the Villa in the most appreciated meeting point of the Mostra;
- 7 nights of “screenings under the stars”. Among others, we would like to remind the following: an anthology of rarity and unreleased clips selected by the Cineteca Nazionale (The very secret story of the Italian cinema); the documentary CGIL: 100 anni della nostra storia by Pannone and Puccioni; La città nel cinema by Falduto and Natanson; 2 animated short movies: the South-African Beyond Freedom and Invenzioni di Don Chisciotte by Mimmo Paladino;
- 8 encounters about cultural issues: the public support to the cinema industry, the copyright in the digital era, the reform of the Biennale, etc. It is worth mentioning also the meeting “100+ 1”, the manifesto launched by Venice Days to defend the memory of the Italian cinema, with the participation of numbers of producers, distributors, experts, journalists, directors of museums;
- More than 2.000 meals, thanks to the banqueting service organised by I –Club, (Andrea Miron responsible). In particular have been consumed: 45 kg of coffee, 1.200 lt. of mineral water, 1.300 bottles of wine and spumante, 200 kg of pasta and 40 kg of rize.
