THE SUBURBS BY GABIELE BASILICO IN THE GARDEN OF VENICE DAYS

Gabriele Basilico, one of Europe’s best known documentary photographers, closed the events planned on 2nd September at the Venice Days Villa. He was there as the protagonist of a video portrayal shot by Marina Spada (who is taking part in the Venice Days selection with her film As the Shadow), as well as a story-teller of his first-hand experience and witness of current changes in a city that has been recently paid a lot of attention for its tragic events, Beirut.
Basilico, who only takes black and white pictures and prefers industrial landscapes and urban areas, has outlined the key elements of his artistic vision to the audience of the Villa.
Thanks to his clear approach and extremely pleasant attitude, the guests of Venice Days Villa enjoyed a rich and unique night, in cultural and ‘human’ terms alike.
