Davide Marengo Davide Marengo was born in Naples 32 years ago and has been living in Rome since 1977. He is a director of short films, which have received awards at a number of international festivals, as well as music videos and television ads. He has worked in television as both a writer and director. Craj – Domani is his first feature film.
Any film that portrays active musicians who are older than 70 is inevitably going to bring to mind Buena Vista Social Club. But once having seen the live concert, the association with something that had already been done immediately vanished, and we developed (with Teresa De Sio and Paola Papa) the film version of the concert “Craj”. The concert recounts an ideal musical journey which Teresa and Giovanni Lindo make in two and a half hours, playing on four stages placed in a circle around the audience and a set reminiscent of a town square during a celebration. At each stop in their ideal journey, the two travelers present a different musical tradition of Puglia, represented by the Cantori di Carpino, Matteo Salvatore, and Uccio Aloisi. When I saw the show live, I was taken in by its energy and emotional impact, which captivated the entire audience and turned it into a truly active participant in the show. (Davide Marengo)
