synopsis A young professor who becomes destitute after the business managed by his father fails is welcomed into the home of a noble family, who offer him employment. In this family’s castle there also lives the man’s girlfriend, who has been raped by the son of the family and, to avoid a scandal, is being kept away from the rapist’s mother. Shortly afterwards the girl attempts to return to town and be reunited with her loved one yet is caught in a sudden snow storm on her way there. With what little strength remains she manages to reach the town, only to die in her loved one’s arms. |
